Pilot Salary and Pilot Wages

Pilot Wages-

Commercial Pilot Salary and Airline Transport Pilot Salary

Pilot Wages for Regional Pilots Versus International Pilots

Some of the main reasons why becoming a professional commercial pilot is a great career opportunity.

Commercial Pilot Salary-

As a new regional co-pilot or 1st officer you can typically earn a decent hourly wage of around $20+ per hour, with regional airline captains making anywhere from $50-$100+ per hour. Depending on the airline and how many years the pilot has been working with the same airline will ultimately determine the pilots wages and benefits.

Airline Transport Pilot Salary-

When you first become an airline transport pilot with a major airline you start at the bottom of the “ranks”. Meaning, you are a new employee and have to start earning your keep with your new co-workers and bosses, while exemplifying your professional skills as a pilot.
Qualified ATP pilots can earn a substantial salary for the amount of demand, risk, and responsibility that coincide with an airline transport pilot career. Most ATP pilots do not start making the “big bucks” ($100,000-$200,000+ yearly) until after 5-10+ years working with the same major airline.

Pilot Careers
At the end of the day, becoming a professional pilot is perhaps one of the most exciting careers that anyone could choose. There is no other comparable feeling when you are in the “office” at the controls of a sophisticated aircraft.

Do You Want to Become A Commercial Pilot or Airline Transport Pilot?

If you answered yes to the above question, you will want to enroll in an accredited certified flight school or aviation college that is established as a leader in professional pilot training; that offers FAA approved and accelerated commercial pilot license courses and airline transport pilot license training courses, has a large pool of CFI's for ground and flight training, operates the latest in aviation electronics and training aircraft, has a substantial proven track record of student pilot graduates, and most importantly a clean FAA safety record.

Different Types of Pilot Careers-

  • Domestic or International Airline Pilot
  • Corporate pilot
  • Cargo Pilot
  • Charter Pilots
  • Flight Instructor(CFI)
  • Medical pilots
  • Government, Military, Law Enforcement Pilots
  • Fire fighting pilots
  • Crop Dusting Pilots (AG Pilots)
  • Banner Advertising Pilots
  • TV, Media, and Civil Patrol pilots
  • Contract Pilots
  • Aircraft Salesman pilot
  • Test pilots
  • Airshow/Stunt/Racing Pilots
  • Drone Pilots
  • Astronauts
  • ...
